Handover or Practical completion report

When to get a handover report

Handover reports are for people who have just had a new house or structure built. Sometimes they are called practical completion reports. Special emphasis is put on finding defects that should be rectified before you take possession of the property. If you are already in possession of a property they can be used to identify areas that need attention before the period for rectification expires.

It is a new home so why would I need a building inspection?

Put simply, builders make mistakes. Even the good ones. This way you can make sure nothing is overlooked and your new home is ready to live in and will not require inconvenient visits from tradesmen at a later date. It is also your guarantee that you are getting the quality and standard you have paid for.

Why would a new home need a pest inspection?

Termites can move into a structure quickly regardless of whether it is old or new. During construction, the termite barrier is installed early on and it is not uncommon for it to be damaged or compromised during the building work that follows. Also, there can be unsafe landscaping or paving build-up or obstruction to the inspection zone.
